Default Where to fish in MS

New to the area and don't know where to fish. I found a place today full of sand flea burrows and am making a pump as soon as Home Depot opens. Where is a good place to fish for pompano in the Alabama/Mississippi area? Do they go into the bays?

I didn't think sand fleas made burrows. I think those are crabs or ghost shrimp. I'm definitely not an expert though.

Pomps do come into the bay's. My neighbor caught some sheepshead fishing.

Not a pomp expert but I've never heard of them being in the Mississippi Sound , SO probably out on the south side of the islands .

Thanks I feel dumb for thinking they were ghost shrimp. I made a great slurp gun and sucked up about 40 holes with nothing in them. Oh well, I think I might try the pier at gulf shores this weekend

I fish the Gulport/Biloxi areas several times a year when visiting family. I've never caught anything other than cats and sand trout. I've also never seen any sand fleas there. I dont think there is going to be much of anything interesting going on inside the barrier islands. If you can get out to Ship, Horn, or Petit Bois Islands, things change a great deal!
