Default Sheepshead from Jetties

Can anyone share some advice about fishing for sheepshead from Jetties. How far out from the rocks do you cast? I will be fishing the east jetty in destin in one week. I've never caught a sheepie before and would love to scratch this one off the list! Any help is appreciated guys! Thanks

I've fished the west Jetty for sheeps and only had to cast a few feet beyond the rocks. When the water is clean you can see the fish cruising up and down them. Casting further out is probably more likely to result in redfish or possibly a black drum at this time of year.

I've been out to the east jetty watching others fish for sheeps and black drum and again you just have to get your line out of the rocks so you don't get hung up but you still want to be close to them because that's where the fish are.

Important: use braid with a sensitive, fast action rod and SHARP hooks... Owner or Gamakatsu in size 1. Flourocarbon leaders of #15
