Default Shark Fishing

My last post wasn't trying to spot burn... just asking about if anybody has any insight on what beaches usually produce decent sharks... For instance, FWB, Pensacola, PCB, Navarre.

Also, curious of how you guys check your baits after a while if there's no pickup... do you drag in your brick, do you break it off?
I'm just trying to get input on what others do. Mostly curiosity...

What baits do you prefer to use?

New to sharking around the Pensacola area.

Thanks for any input you might have!

I use 8oz spider weight that collapses when you reel it in so no need for brick. the current is not that bad usually.
Set up a couple of rods anywhere from 300 to 500 yd out.
Fresh chunked up rays for bait or a whole one if its not to big.
i use big mullets/or anything that buddy give me with a double hook threaded through the body.
As far as what beaches produces sharks pretty much all of them. If you spend enough time out there it will happen and i don't change bait unless i get hit with a good run or right before sunset that way i don't have to change bait more than once or twice a night.
Hope this helps and good luck.

I don't surf shark fish myself, but usually stop and talk to those that do. Ran across a group of Mexican fishermen from Galveston, Texas camping and fishing near chickenbone this winter. Friendly types after getting over their suspicion of a white guy stopping to say hello and chat.

Asked why they came all the way here for shark when they have all those sharks over there in TX to catch, and they said: "The big ones are here". That tells you something right there.

Was on a 18' center console yesterday outside the destin jettis when I hooked a 2 1/2' wide stingray, quickly started chopping it up and throwing the guts and pieces into the water. Not even a few minutes go buy and bam a 4-5 footer behind my boat. Wasn't but a 100-150 yards from the jettis or so which I think only extend a 1/4 mile from the beach.

either I chunked to much bait but even keeping the water bloody I moved with no luck as there wasn't another bite for the next couple hours or so.
