What beach would you recommend to a newbie wanting to go surf fishing for first time? I live in Navarre but would be ok with driving down the National Seashore to find a less crowded area. Thanks in advance!

Yes, drive down the seashore and find a spot. Opal beach, which is on the seashore will have the most beach goers on that stretch. Any of the other stops that dont have facilities will have less folks to deal with.

Thanks Simonj you have been a great help sir! What would be the best bait? I been catching sand/ghost shrimp caught out of the sound. I also have sand flea fish bites.

No problem. Before I got a kayak and boat, I did a ton of wade and surf fishing. Fresh peeled market shrimp(not frozen), fish strips(artificial) and sand fleas. There are plenty around right now.
