Default Popped my pomp cherry in Navarre

Slow day. Caught a nice lady in the surf and a really nice pomp. That's one down on my bucket list. Surf is a lot more manageable today but still rough. Grass has cleared up mostly but is still present.

How do you cook these things?. Planning on simple, butter, garlic salt, pepper and a little lemon at the end.

Cook skin on or off?

glad it went well - Do Not Fry Pomps! it kills it.

Fillet just like you did, ona med hot grill after some olive oil onboth the skin side and meat side put your additions on, butter, parsley, light seasonings... grill till the thick part flakes take off and enjoy, watch the little row of bones left in. Meat comes right off the skin - heaven.

Got the carcass on my shark rod in the sound. Should I have used a chunk of lady fish instead?

Blackened. Grilled. Fish tacos. Parmesan/panko (look up recipe) topping then broil. Good eats!

John,
The fresh pomp carcass or ladyfish will get you a shark, BUT...if it's soaked longer than an hour, reel in and re-bait...it's done become crab bait unless you're floating it.

Got picked up by a little shark, but I set the hook too soon and pulled in my bait with about a 6" bite radius out of it.

Going to try 2-3" chunks of lady tomorrow.
