Default Newbie and what to use

Okay guys/gals Im coming to Destin in July for a week. I have charted a guide for a couple of days, however I will be staying on the beach and wanted to surf fish the other days I wasnt with the guide. I objectively would like to wade with my Curado/or H2O express and hook up with something. My current setup is a med light action rod with 12lb mono and a 20lb fluro leader. I like arties but really just want to use whatever will get fish on, I am not targeting any certain species as I just want a good fight, then release. I can get my hands on some heavier tackle if need be, but really would like to enjoy playing the fish with my lighter tackle if I can. Ive done some serching on your forums and have printed out how to read the surf, and read up on digging up sandfleas in early morning. All that being said I just wanted yalls opinions on what a good general setup would be. Thanks
