Default New To Pensacola Fishing

I'm moving to Pensacola in July, and would like to do some shark fishing off the beaches. I have surf fished down in the Ft. Myers area and off Marathon, and neither place had a kayak to use yet have been able to get some blacktips. Being unfamiliar with the Pensacola fishery, I'm wondering if a kayak is truly necessary to get out to the sharks? Or are they within casting range from however far out I can wade? Any information would be very helpful.

welcome to pensacola and the pff, you don't need a kayak to shark fish but its a lot better if you have one.

He's right, its not necessary, you can find some good sharks within casting range if you can cast a shark leader... But a kayak does make it easier, especially when going for monsters.... And to be honest every time i yak out a bait i pull back a bull red.....

Thank you. As for sinkers and rigs, what do you guys use? I've used breakaway sinkers in the past, but it may be time for a change...
