Default Need advice on reel maintenance

I took my old Penn 1500 out of storage to clean it up in hopes of using it for Pompano. I took the bell wire off because it felt like it had grit in it. Before I took it off, it would spring open like it was suppose to, and close on its own when I cranked it. Now that I have put it back together, it will not spring open or close when I crank it. Any idea what could be wrong?? Spring looks to be in place and intact.

I'm in Gulf Breeze. If convenient, I'll be happy to take a look at it for you. I'm thinkin' it's a Powergraph?

It is a PG, and after working on it a bit more, I found that it was missing a part. A little bent end (both ends) rod that goes into a spring and wire bell housing had fallen out. I found it on the floor. Got it back together and it is working fine now. Glad I could figure it out. First time breaking a reel down that far.

Thank you for your offer though.
