Default How to rig for surf?

Not looking for rod and reel suggestions but once I buy, how do you recommend I rig for surf for general surf fishing. From empty reel, down to the hook. (braid or mono, line size, color, terminal tackle, etc.)
Thank you!

On another note, I've fished St Andrews State Park many times in the grand lagoon near the pass. Usually catch lady fish then use them to catch shark.
I'd like to fish around the point in the deep water of the pass. Current is usually pretty strong though.
How would you recommend fishing the pass? On bottom?
Don't care what I catch.
