Well welcome to Pensacola. You are in a good locating for prime fishing. If u are looking to catch some pomps i would recommend going down towards the langdon beach area ask a park ranger they will help. Next is gear?? Lately I have had better luck on my smaller gear something like a 7-8 ft rod and a decent spinning reel will work fine! Use a two drop rig with about a 2 to 3 ounce pryamid weight on bottom and a #2 circle hook. Fresh shrimp or sandfleas will do for bait. Next find a deeper dark part of water and cast into it and wait! I would recommend stopping by HotSpots bait&tackle for info. They will hook u right up! Hope this helps?

Keith, welcome! Snatch it gave some great advice. I also like his suggestion to stop by Hot Spots; they'll get you set up and will have good tips on where to fish. Also, you may want to search the forum. There have been lots of good threads about pompano, techniques, locations, etc. Here are a few to get you started that you may find helpful:

Good luck and make sure to post a report after!
