Default Deer hair vs nylon pompano jigs

Is there a disadvantage to using natural bucktails for pomp jigs? I'm guessing just a durability thing since nylon will hold up to the occasional toothy critter bite? Would it even add anymore action to the jig or hinder, since its cropped off right behind the hook.

Believe you're going at it the wrong way. If you stack the hair so the ends are even, then trim the front to size.
The advantage is that you can flair the hair so the jig falls slower plus its hollow.
You already know what toothy critters will do.....

That makes sense. Why is it not more used than the nylon ? Is it just as effective ?
