Default BPS Oh No

Wife & I went over to Spanish Fort this morning. I had a gift card from Dads day to spend, wanted to get a Penn Fierce to go with a 9' Tsunami spinner I picked up at OBX, needed something to travel with in her car.

Wandering around got me to the surf rod area, had a 11' Prevail 2-6 oz caster follow me back to the house. Any one use this, & if so how do you like it ? I've got a 6500c & 6501 c3 that should work, both spooled with #15 bbg.

Played with it a bit in the backyard with 2 oz, kept going over the front fence, lol.

I'm going to get a prevail as well. They are sweet rods. With a 5k or 6k series reel and 30lb braid you could sling a rig to the nipple. I havent used one as far as caught fish on one, but they are awesome rods.

Don't you have to catch fish to have an opinion on fishing gear?! Lol

Once I get the casting part figured out, the catching part should be fun. Really want to see how it throws spools & heavy jigs. I do like to throw hardware sometimes. Main reason for getting this is a learning tool.

It will definitely sling a heavy spoon or jig. I don't know how much action you'll get out of it though being it's 11'

I could feel a 2 oz weight trying to load it with a short ground cast. And could feel it coming through the grass so it may have enough "feel" for jigs. Was two 11 ft's, picked the one with the softest feeling tip. Won't know for sure tell I try it in the water. Might be good for throwing a heavy Carolina rig with 4"-6" grubs & a 2 oz egg.
