Default Anyone want to go surf fishing?

Hey folks, new to Florida, this forum, and salt water fishing. Moved to Pensacola over a month ago and finally got my license and a surf casting setup, and I'm looking to head out. I grew up fishing the Great Lakes so wetting a line is nothing new, but this saltwater business is a different world. Looking to try for some pompano, maybe redfish, I got some frozen shrimp and sand fleas today, anyone feel like going fishing?

My boy and I are going inshore wade fishing tomorrow morning, assuming I wake up in the morning, lol. Find a good cut and set up on the beach. Plenty to catch right now. Invest in a sand flea rake. I hear they are best for bait in the surf??

Same to you. Google maps usually helps find some good spots. A spot where there is a break between the second sand bar, is usually a good spot, if that makes sense?

Yeah, I watched that reading the surf video. I'll see if i can actually recognize those areas. Do those breaks, cuts, and sand bars shift around all the time?

Monday. About 11:00 A.M. or so until dark (maybe) east of the Navarre Pier parking lot. Never fished it so gonna give it a try.

Red S-10. Good looking old fat guy with a beach cart and a walking cane. (And lots of fish)

I'll be out at Ft. Pickens tomorrow around 3 until after dark (unless I limit out first ).

I'd definitely invest in a sand flea rake. You can use those small hand nets and kid/play nets but a rake will change your world. Eventually you'll want a beach cart too. I just bought one and it opens up a lot more beach.

Thanks for all the replies, I ended up going fishing with devinsdad (Gary) today. I had a blast, and caught fish! I'll post in the report section of how we did.

SteveCal: If I didn't have to work tomorrow I'd meet ya out there. Thanks for the invite and good luck!

Well, it was a bust today at the beach next to Navarre Pier. Water 3 to 4 feet tall. Wind to 15+. Catfish seemed to be the only ones in the surf and sharks were running the beach.
