I am thinkig about going tomorow to try my luck. Going to be a nice day to get some some sun and hopefully tight lines. Not sure about where yet but I went with Hogwash last Saturday and he got two nice Pomps pretty quickly.

What should a newbie get for a pomp jig and what size gold spoon are you throwing? I"m going to pick up some artificial lures to try this year. Never have thrown any in salt water.

Every single tackle shop at the beach sells the little bright colored pomp jigs. You can't miss them. They are usually always on the counter next to the cash register in every beach tackle shop.

I've seen several threads on here recently talking about sand fleas doing real well. Or maybe small shrimp.
Search the forum for pomp. You'll find everything your looking for

I am probably going to the parking lot right before Portafino about 9a. If anyone wants to meet just shoot me a text or call. I am only taking two rods and some fresh bait.

I work tonight but I get off early enough to make that. I'm gonna try to head out there, I've always been an inshore kayak and wade fisherman. surf fishing the gulf isn't exactly my forte so it'll be nice to ride out and see what someone else does. I think im just gonna bring some small spinnings rods and throw some artificial and see how you do on live bait.

Also, I second him on those pompano jigs. I can't remember what the makers name is but everyone has them on a little wooden shelf by the counter. as for the spoon, depends on the conditions but generally 1/4 is fine. sometimes 1/3. just depends I guess.
