Default What a day

Left the house bout 10 after 5 this morning. And after all the normal bait and snack round up, my brother and I launched his tandem kayak. Sure was nice paddleing up the icw (minimal wind, foggy, a great change from the recent gusty weekends). Anyways we get to the jetties pretty quick, just a few boats in sight. Armed with a few dozen shrimp, we go at it. Man there was no shortage of black snapper, just weren't any keepers. I think we caught 8 or so. Well I was getting bored of that so I grab the bait net. After a few throws I caught up with some minnows. My brother laughs and says," What you going to do with those?" To I replie watch this. I hook one up and cast him as far as I could from the shore. Sit there for a few mins, Listening to manyou aint goin caught nut n wit dat. I just shake my head and bout that timeWHAM. Yes sir. First name Bull last nameRed. shows up right on time. Ohhhh it was a good fight. Ole boy ran a couple times. So I get him to wear I can see him. All thewhile my brother "Reel him in boy". Well Im gettin ready to invite him to the beach for a couple photo ops. When my knuckle head brother grabs the line. Then you guessed it TINK ------OMG-----YOU ----- MUTHA------WTF.Man I had to smoke a cig after that. By that time the boats started pouring in so I threw the idea of ft pickiens out there. And hell we took off. By this time its 11:00 or so. I'm thinking here we go for another skunk show. We park the yak, unload, and begin to fish again. Man the water was nasty, by the way. Butwe start casting when these guysother side of us , there on fire. One after anotherreds, sheppies, pompano. Hell I looked at my bro and was like what are we doing wrong. Wasn't that long before we started a fire of are own. It seemed that the fish were hideing.WE found them.

WeDid caught a bunch of reds. They were most under the slot. But these two were 18 1/2 and 19. All in all it was a great day. Lookn foward to break n my brooff a monster red. I'll be sure to let you guys know how that goes.

They are called Spadefish... very edible, though I've never tried one.
