Default Wednesday 26 Nov. 08 report with pictures

Well got off work at 1200 or so and jetted home to get ready to do some fishing with a buddy. Got launched out of Sherman Cove around 2pm or so and headed out to the Mass. got out there and was glass flat! never seen it that calm. usually the turret is out of the water int he troughs but today barely a ripple in the surface of the water. Anyhow we hook up some live shrimp and cast into the wreck. first cast out I get a bite and reel it in and its a damn skate!!! get him released back into the wild and hook another live shrimp up and cast into the wreck nothing nothing nothing boom rod goes off now this fish has some fight to her get it to the boat and its a damn endangered 22 inch red snapper! damnit is what I am saying to myself by this point. fish released starting to get dark now so I throw one line out again and wrap the others up to troll the pass back into the bay. I turn around and my rod is going off again! ( my buddy is PISSED cuz he is using the same rigs and bait and spots I am and not getting even a bite!) anyhow I pull it up and it is a 13 inch flounder. into the cooler he goes. so we troll stretch 15s back into the bay without a single hit and go to the dock on Pickens to fish a little bit longer. we each catch a few large pinfish and I rig up a rod with a whole fillet o pinfish and heave it out. That bait had not even been in the water for 1 minute and all I heard was drag screamin off the light action rod it was on!! after a nice 5 minue or so struggle I get the fish into the boat and it is a 27 inch redfish into the cooler he goes! he was a fat SOB let me tell ya. now since I got the red on cutbait my buddy more frustrated now rigs his up with cut bait and casts out. a few minutes go by and he gets a huge hit! (now he is using a cheapy navy exchange seahawk rod and reel combo, hold on hold on wait for it) as he starts to fight this fish it starts taking drag, well the gears in the reel strip out giving the most god awful sound you had ever heard. I hear a snap and I though he lost the fish! nope guess again! he still had it on with a rats nest the size of a softball in his reel he begins to handline this fish in and after about 10 minutes of almost cutting his fingers off as the fish is trying to run he lands another 27 inch redfish. BTW it is his first red and the biggest fish he has caught here in florida so far. I told him after all that that red will be the best tasting red he will ever have. we packed her up after that and headed back in was home cleaning fish until 845pm then off to drink more beer. cheers !
