Default Wade Fishing off of Eglin

Got out to the flats around 4 p.m. today. I caught some bait fish with my sain net and headed out. Ended up catching 6 legal trout (5 were about 18" inches and one was probably atleast 22"on the bait and 4 smaller trout on the ol' berkley gulp (ran out of bait) I also caught one red that was probably 15 inches and 5 ladyfish. Overall had a great afternoon. This was the first non stop fish catching afternoon of the year. The fish seem to be on the flatts pretty good now over the last couple of weeks i have been catching more and more each time i go... Oh and i do catch and release this month to give the fish time to lay there eggs. Anyway ya'll get out there and catch some fish i know i'll be out there!

So where on Eglin do you go out on the flats? I can get on base again and have been thinking of getting over there this week. The only place I know of is that park on the water behind the RV site and the horse stables. Good to know the bite's getting strong out there. Also, anyone know the best place to launch a kayak on Eglin to do some 'yak fishin? thanks

theres a road before the horse stables, if youre coming in from niceville, that goes back to the bay. There used to be dove fields back there but I think theyre gone or closed now. If theres a red flag up you cant go back there. That spot and by the boy scout camp is where I used to always catch them.

Yes I fish over off of cobbs overrun... but really all of the grass flats are pretty good i usually go to a diffrent one each time. The best place to put a kayak in i think is probably postal point. its the easiest place and im sure you will atleast catch one even if you use a gulp under a bobber or somthing. The lady fish were about 22 inches or so.
