Default Spanish Off the beach and on the flats

Went out this saturday and started trolling a king rig with cigar minnow and a big spoon down the beach and a mile or so off shore. Picked up a keeper spanish(smaller one in the picture) and also hooked up to a small king that was 23 inches at the fork.

Decided to head back in as my fishing partner was not a fan of the slow roll going on at the time. Trolled in towards the pass and I hooked up to what I thought was surely a king. Reeled it in and it turned out to be my personal best Spanish. He was 25 inches at the fork and weighed in at 4.5 lbs(bigger one in the picture).

Continued in and decided to throw live shrimp on the flats towards navarre letting the wind push us across it. First few casts landed a keeper 15 inch speck. We did several more drifts and boated 3 keeper spanish and some smaller specks we had to release.

Took the big Spanish and weighed him in for the Navarre fishing rodeo. Still waiting on the results to see if he is a winner.

We cut em into small chunk's breaded em and fried them up and made delicious fried fish tacos. Add cilantro, red cabbage, tomatoes with sweet onion and limes, some feta cheese(or goat cheese), avocado, and secret sauce of mayo mixed with siracha. One of my favorite meals that works with any fish.

I had a mixed bag of spanish, sand perch and vermillion filets and made tacos Monday. Good stuff. I was glad to find that tacos work for spanish because as a ordinary filet, i am not fond of the texture etc.

I got me a 22" spanish in Choctaw bay last month and that was MY personal best, and I thought I was doing good...

Good haul
