Default reds in the bay

a buddy took me to one of his redfish spots for a nice labor day bite. caught some finger mullet for bait. Had a few cats and croakers eat the live bait. threw a small croaker out and had a hell of a run, but the 20lb mono leader ended up breaking. ended the night with a 24" red. also caught a 28" and a 30" red which were released to fight another day. one of them was crapping out mono.:sick

IanR, nice catch .. and yes we had one of those reds with mono runnin out his back end. That just shows their resilience and toughness to break line and carry on regardless..Mine had a stainless hook in his gut, must've been there for a year or so.. the leaderpassed all the way straight out

todd, you look super farmiliar. but like you said, its crazy how resilient these creatures really are.

i caught one at bob sykes awhile back that had all 3 barbs of a treble hook sticking out his butt. dunno how he could pass anything else, but felt bad for the little guy. My buddy caught a red, and in its belly was a brand new jighead and a nuclear chicken gulp shrimp...
