Default Monday Night 1.12.09 3 Mile Bridge, Cold, Windy, Rough.....

Gill (lighttackle2fun), sent me a text last night around 6. It said "is it too cold to fish tonight?". So I called him and said why not, lets do it. I got off work at 7, and I was at 17th by 8:15. Gill and Steph arrived at around 8:30. We headed out into low temps, steady wind, and a nasty chop. We headed straight for the magic light and started fishing. It was pretty slow at first with nothing hungry but small white trout. After we all caught several trout, I decided to rig up a live bait rod. I pulled out my 7ft sturdy stick rigged it with a one ounce weight and a 6/0 circle hook equipped with an 8 inch white trout. I tossed the little guy out and set the rod down in a safe place. it didn't take long before a nice fish inhaled that trout and started heading back towards the channel. I walked to the bow of the boat and after a great fight and a little help from Gill on the net, red number one was photographed and released.

here is another angle...same fish

Well by the time I got that bull released, Steph had already caught another couple of baby trout, so I tossed another one out. It wasn't long beforethat one got nailed, but this fish was crafty. He ran around the back of the boat and tangled with another line and the engine cowling. So after some fancy foot work fromGill, that required him to climb into the splash guard in 3 ft waves) and a little evasive maneuvering from myself and Steph we managed to get everything untangled :clap :clap :clap here is Red numbertwo

This was a nice fish for sure!!! At this point the red fish bite had really heated up, and they were taking the white trout that Steph was catching, as she was reeling them in. The next timeone got snagged, I told her to just let it run. So she did, and boy did that fish run, straight for the channel. NowSteph set the hook, and she had a hoss bull red on a very small reel with 10 lb power pro. After about 15 minutes and a great job by Steph,Gill the net master netted it and wooo hooo what a fish :clap :clap :clap

After that everybody had at least one more shot at a red, but nobody landed another one. Gill had a fish on for at least 3 minutes before it spit the hook???? Oh Yeah did I mention that it was Cold, and wet, with the occasional wave breaking over the bow. here are a fewpics of us bundled up for the ride home...Gill and Steph in this one

Here I am...lol...it was cold driving that boat back.....

We had a great time and I can't wait to do it again. All the reds were caught with live white trout, and released. All the trout were caught on gulp.

Good luck and good fishing.
