Default Little Lagoon--Golden Croakers--10/5/09

Afternoon trip to Little Lagoon--Golden Croakers--10/5/09<DIV class=post-text>After this mornings wet trip to the ICW i took a long-longer-nap. My wife is in Miss so i can fish as much as i want--and i wanted to go again--Little Lagoon it is. Got there at 2:30 PM--put the boat in the water and got 100 Yds from the launch--looked to the West and saw a Storm coming fast--put the boat back on the trailer and waited 30 Minutes and it was all over--went fishing. Plenty of White Trout--most small--some Specks--most small--Golder Croakers--big ones--and plenty of them. They pull like Reds--a lot of fun--i kept +/- seven and let the rest go. It was a fun-relaxing-afternoon--just troling Gulps and waiting for a bite. Got close to 5:30--Out--Home--Clean Fish--Bath--Ice Tea--Bill O'Reilly Time----BT66

If you want to catch Golden Croakers--put in at Little Lagoon--go to the Pass and go West Trolling Gulps--# 3 Speed on my 45 Lb T. Motor--make sure the Gulp is "bumping bottom"--Use a 1/8 oz Lead Head and Natural Gulp--it works--hold on.---BT66

BT66 When you say 'go the pass and go west' are you talking about turning north and then west into the ICWto trollor alabama point - surely you did not go out in the gulf and troll?

Thanks, matt

He means west of the inlet inside the lagoon. The water generally stays cleaner and has a higher salinity level to the west of the inlet. You don't even need to troll, just drift some gulps and you'll catch plenty. Some of the biggest croakers you will ever see.

Thanks Tunapopper,

Sounds like some low stress fun for fishing with the kids!

And those croakers are good eating.

For the kids!? Hell,I go out there and catch them for myself all the time! They pull way harder pound for pound than a red or speck of the same size and some little lagoon croaker top 4-5lbs.

If you want the kids to have fun its one of the best and most sure fire things to do with them.
