What he said... cut bait = a 1 inchpiece of the fish you just caught. White trout is GREAT bait for white trout. I'd fish top and bottom... enough weight to find the bottom, but a much lighter weight to keep it in the water column, Let it free line for a minute or so, reel it in and do it again.

Try all the tricks you know till you find the right pattern... heck you've got nothing else to do except tell old stories and lie about your last trip out.

Jim

PS... if you start catching catfish, move to another spot, unless you like catching catfish.

The 3 mile bridge will be your best bet for action. There are several ways to fish that are successful.

1st fish with 1/4 to 1/2 oz jig heads with any color gulp shrimp or other soft plastic. You want to work the jig very slowly keeping it in contact with the bottom. This will catch trout and redfish

2nd two drop rig with a weight on the bottom. A 1 oz weight should work. Bait with dead or live shrimp, or small pieces of cut bait. After you catch a trout use small pieces of cut trout for bait, works great.

3rd Carolina rig with shrimp/cut baitor live bait of some kind for redfish. Pinfish, small trout, pigfish, Croaker will all work

Keep moving until you find some fish, drift and throw. The trout seem to school farther to the east of the bridge and redfish tend to stay closer to the old bridge rubble thats in the water east of the driving bridge. Hope this helps you catch a few more.

Welcome to town buddy! Head to 3 mile bridge. Put in at 17th (north end of bridge) or on the Gulf Breeze side (south end). Me and my brother went out last Thursday between 1:30 pm and 8:30 pm. We tore the white trout up, almost every cast, and caught 2 bull Reds. Also had a couple of other good runs that got broke off, my guess would be Big Reds. The Reds were 37" and 38". We caught all trout and 1 Bull Red on Gulp, 4" natural shrimp. The other Red came on about an 8" white trout, free line with a little weight cause the tide was really comin in. We seemed to catch the bigger trout on the Gulf Breeze side of the big hump by some of the old bridge. Also caught more on the P'cola side, just not as big. Both Reds were on the Gulf Breeze side. Good luck to you and your father, hope ya'll tear em up. Let us know how ya'll do.
