Friday Morning Navarre East Bay Report.........
Ok, back from working Ike in Texas and headed out with my father for some much needed relaxation on East Bay. Launched the boat at 7:15am, it slid off the trailer and I found after not being used for three weeks battery was dead as a door nail, so load her back up and run to Wally World to buy a battery, get the battery in and off we go. First hole we try live shrimp under cork, and on the bottom, and gold spoons, NOTHING. Second hole same thing and nothing. Third hole same thing and nothing. We leave the power lines and head out into the bay and I see some grass flats right by the creek on 399 so we fish right there and I get an almost instant hit with a live shrimp on the bottom, 22" keeper red !!!!!!!!
Then it all dies down, and we are headed back but decide to try one more hole, again live shrimp on the bottom, instant hit, 21" keeper red !!!!!!!! GREAT DAY !
Then while pulling the boat out I notice the bearing on the left side of the trailer is shot! Flashers and five miles an hour home, then most of the day trying to fix, can't find right bearings, both sides need to be done, and shaft has a bearing welded on that I have to grind off tomorrow morning.
So long story short, reds were cooked on the grill, wild turkey was smooth as silk, and despit it all it was great fishing with my father!
LIFE IS GOOD !
