Default ECRC Upper Bay Tourney report

Well,

Yesterday was our upper bay system tourney. Dawna and I decided with all the rain lately we would make the run from the Archie Glover boat ramp back to the sound to try and catch some reds. We were in rain from about 7am till 11:30 or so. It sure made fishing fun. Poor Dawna!!!!! She was so funny to watch trying to be strong and still fish even though you couldn't see four feet in front of the boat!!!clap

Anyway we managed to catch 7 lower slot fish and 1 under slot fish. Our biggest fish was right at 3lbs but was gut hooked and died in the live well and caught us a half pound penalty!! We also managed a couple of just keeper trout and one stud flounder that Dawna hooked in Escambia Bay!!! We did weigh in two fish with a combined weight of a whopping 4.35 lbs!!!!!!! LOL:letsdrink

Was a great tourney and the next one in Niceville should be a barn burner. I have a few pictures I will upload to the computer later and post em up for you guys.

OH, Chris Phillips and Matt McCleod came out of retirement yesterday and proved to all of us that they still have it in em. They won the tournament with over 12lbs and that was with a dead fish penalty!!!!!!

Congrats to Chris and Matt, That's impressive in those conditions!

It's like riding a bike, I guess.

Like Jeff said, good job to all for even getting out of bed in that mess.

LOL!!! It was interesting. I enjoyed it SO much. It really had a BIG tournament feel to it. Making long runs in bad weather, fishing despite the conditions, the lottery number blast off in the morning. The tough bite and grinding all day for two fish.

Probably my favorite one of the year so far!!!!!!!!!

Great report B Rad! Yesterday was a tough day... Every one of my places in Escambia didn't produce squat! Water was very muddy and rain stained in the upper part. The rats we did catch up there were the darkest reds I've ever caught. They looked like big gold fish.

We did manage to catch a very nice fish early, our first fish of the day, that weighed 6.23 lbs, but couldn't manage to catch another slot the rest of the day. Very frustrating.

Congrats to the winners, Team Hot Spots, with their winning catch.

Thanks guys! We actually didn't get a single drop of rain on us in Alabama, but my body is aching today from the bumpy boat ride...

The club and tournaments are awesome, we can't wait to make a run for the "team of the year" next season!

Thank you Jimmy for all you do!

Thats right Jimmy, even the fish in the Sound were super dark!!! I think that they are beautiful when they're that color!!! Great job on that pig you guys caught. I can't seem to find any upper slot fish. Either somethings wrong with my game or I am in just the wrong places.

I enjoyed taking the wife and little guy out there and meeting everyone. She was very impressed with how friendly everyone was and how they all spoke and introduced themselves. As was I.Really jazzed up about joining and learning more and more about catching reds. My new boat is on the way and I can't wait to get it broken in catching fish. Hope to see everyone again soon.

Great report. Are there any pictures? from anyone in this tournament?

I was out there Satrurday too, but didn't get what I was targetting..

We just sort of went around the showers a little. Still got wet but that's part of the fun.
