Default Destin Bridge 1/19

Made it to the bridge at 7:45 With FINZ in his 14 ft jon. We fished the incoming tide and it was ripping through pretty good. They are workin on the catwalk and it seems to be stirrin em up. We landed some decent bulls and had 1 or 2 big ones break off. We were targeting black drum but only got one 12inch puppy. We both brought home a slot red and two spadefish made the team as well(one was pretty big). Weather sucked but fishing was excellent.

Fish Tally:

FINZ- 6 REDS, 1 Spade

ME- 3 REDS, 1 (BIG)SPADE, 1 PUPPY DRUM

All were caught on shrimp:letsdrink

Nice fish, been meaning to get out to the bridge and look for some sheepshead. You fish the north or south side?

I was out at the midbay on the 19th, and boy was that tide ripping through. It must of been pretty rough out there at the destin bridge. Once the winds picked up around 1:00 we packed it in, it was outrageous. We caught the same fish over at midbay - Spades, drum, and reds. my buddy even managed to bring in a19 inch grouper out there. Monday was a great fishing day, I think it had something to do with the previous week's neap tide. Great pictures and nice fish.

Great job guys! SO how you gonna cook the Spades? I've never eaten them before, what are they similar to?

Well, looks like you all had a productive outing. The water is nice an clean out there huh? I have gone three times producing nothing. I fished artifical twice and live shrimp once. It is always nice to catch fish, but I was mainly concerned with testing my motor, setting adjustments, going on long runs toestimate range on afull tank, checking for leaks, and confirming sea worthyness. It all checked out!!! I just need a trailer. I can't find a used one, so I'm looking into a new one. Nice fish fellas, I'll be seeing you all soon.

I have always heard that Spadefish are excellent tablefair, so I figured I would give them a try. They do have a lot of bones but the meat was comparable to flounder. I cooked one of the Spades whole and I breaded the Redfish and Spadefish fillets with Japenese bread crumbs(Panko) themI pan friedthem. You can get the Japenese bread crumbs at Publix in the ethnic food aisle. It's great on chick and pork ,too.

G/l on finding a trailer Deadeye--if you come across a 14ft trailer for cheap let me know

Gigabite, you sure do like those dam japanese bread crumbs huh! I have never cooked fish that way, but after reading this post, I will. Sounds delicious. As for a trailer, I have pricedsome new. I called several places, finding that the gulf coast boat center on eglin pkwy, next to shalimar liquors being the cheapest so far. $525 plus the govenor, registration. I contacted the bx at eglin. They will know if they will be carrying trailers in about three weeks. They will be the cheapest if they do, around $400 I would imagine. GCBC will take 4 weeks to get it in anyway. I'll keep ya informed.
