Cornflake789 (4/5/2009)What started as a slow morning turned out pretty good. The water was real muddy, the wind was blowing like crazy, there was foam and crap everywhere so I think i did pretty well given the crappy conditions. Started out the morning with a bunch of white trout and towards the afternoon decided to give the spadefish a try, it took me a while to get the technique down but after that I was busting those guys. About 15 minutes before the close of the pier I was still going after spadefish and at the same time sending a message to my dad on my phone when suddenly something almost pulled the rod out of my hands, after a couple of minutes of fighting it with my light tackle I landed the beast which turned out to be a 5lb sheepshead.

Sorry i didnt read your post closer or I would have answered my own question:banghead

choppedliver (4/5/2009)Wow... congrats man! Tell me about the base pier... Where is that located? On base obviously. Is it over where the Lexington / Forrestal used to be parked? I havent fished on base yet... Just got out yesterday for the first time since I was a kid.

So you have some trout, sheepshead, what are the others? Like I said, brand new so I dont have them all memorized yet

It is the old Lexington pier and the strange looking fish up above are called spadefish, there delicious, fight hard, and are difficult to hook at times ( I think they should be considered a game fish) If you want to fish on the pier it will be open Friday from 6:00 pm till midnight
Is there a schedule posted somewhere? You stated it will be open again Friday.
