Default 3mb Wednesday night

I have this heavy duty oceanmaster rod with full rollers on it and a big ole Penn 114 reel on it. Never got anything worthwhile on it, but finally put it to some good use last night. Went out to 3 mile bridge- Caught a lady fish, cut him into 3 large pieces, wrapped a circle hook through one of them and dropped it down to the bottom 30ft below. After several large catfish something else got hold of it. Dragged the boat about 50 yards with drag screaming and line just flying out. He was spooling me on my big reel! He headed straight for the channel and broke me off as he ran past the bridge bumper pilings for the channel. They were over 100yds away so I never thought they would come into play. Although we did not land the fish it was well worthwhile for the excitement of the fight and the feel of the sheer power of whatever it was at the other end.

No pics. Maybe next time!

Oh, also caught two ?blue runners? in my line- not hooked, they just got tangled in my line. Unfortunately for them the ended up on the end of a circle hook as bait...

Yep there are some hoss fishes out there...My Dad and I got our a$$es handed to us 3 times in one night a couple months ago. Fishing a live white trout on the bottom using a Penn 706 with manual pick up. We had the drag set so tight I could barely pull it, and that fish was pulling it like it was nothing.
