Default 3 mile bridge 2/8/09

Me, My best freind and his Dad picked the boat (18 Ft Wellcraft) up as the sun was rising.

We stopped at GBBT for shrimp but were too late. We picked up a couple containers of frozen shrimp and a couple boxes of squid, we still had some frozen cigars. Great staff there.

We launched around 8ish and got in line on the bridge. After a short wait and me tossing the old shrimp and cut up minnws over the side the trout came in. Most fish caught were on squid with a few on shrimp. Close to noon it seemed that the pinfish came in. I tried a real nice one under a poppin cork but nada. he was released at the end of it free from harm.

We left around noon with 30 Sand Trout in the box. Even the smaller fillets were great fried up. I used a half box of Zatarans hush puppy mix with some garlic powder and onion salt. Half the fillets went to feeding me, my Mom and Brother, the other half went to my mother-in-law and her crew.

Pics include dawn at Shermans Cove, the fish box, and the cleaning table (thats me on the right w/ the Loomis Hat).

Us ignorant Northwest Floridians call those "White Trout".

No My Buddies Dad is ret AF (Col). He lives in Herons Landing there by the base.

This was one of the more productive days that we have had together.

There was a discussion recently about Speck vs White trout for taste. I think I'm going Speck on that one.

There were two middle aged guys tossing lures around the pilings and we watched with envy as they brought in reds. I called out to them and they said they were using shads on jig heads and their reds were 1-3 inches too big.

It would have been great to get a red on after dealing with the light fighting trout.

I was a little dissapointed that I didnt get a sheepie.

I'll get em next time.
