I've been having big fish problems the last couple of days ! I've been catching plenty of small trout and lower end slot fish.....but everytime I hook a nice red or speckled trout they've found a way to throw all those treble hooks. It happened again today ! The second fish of the afternoon was probably a 5 lb. trout, that instantly came to the top and started thrashing and head shaking and eventually just started rolling up in the line by spinning circles. Then it went deep and started making the drag sing. I got it close to the boat, but it threw the hooks before I could get the net. Dang, dang dang ! I did manage to catch 2 pretty nice ones before the rain started. The biggest was 21", which is my biggest speckled trout of the winter so far. Oh and a damn turn of some sort dove on my plug and got caught. In the process of trying to release him unharmed...the damn thing bit me and would not let go ! They bite a lot harder than your average seagull ! Lol ! I eventually got him to turn me loose, and I got the hook out and set it free. But if he would have bit me any harder...it might have turned out bad for him !
