Default Where to fish in Panama City.

I'm heading over to Panama City this weekend for our annual "family camp out". We'll be at the St. Andrews State Park. I'm bringing my boat and hoping to find some reds and specks.

I'm not very familiar with St. Andrew bay. Where are some areas to try relatively close to the state park? There are a lot of grass beds and a nice drop off along the shore where the camp sites are and oyster beds around the bridge going over grand lagoon, and the jetties / pass area.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Max

Flounder, reds, kings are in the pass and bay. Fish the sandholes in the kiddie pool (island side) for flounder on a moving tide. Reds and mangroves on the rocks. Pompano all over the beach right now.

Thanks. Are the areas around the park in grand lagoon worth fishing?

Yeah, there's tons of bait moving out right now. The rocks around campsite 80 or 81, I believe, should be good. That's a deeper area than the adjacent flats on either side. That hole can hold lots of fish at times. There's always a chance for a nice red or grouper there. Trout at night and early morn in the same place. The rocks by deepwater point inside the lagoon by the bait guy are a historically good flounder hole as well. Spanish should be good at the point. Also, if you bring a dip net, go wade the flats of the state park and scoop crabs. Most are big males. They are scattered, but they are all whoppers right now. They will be there for another week or three.

Thanks again. If you see a cape horn 17 w/ a blue t-top out this weekend, say hello.

Thank you standrew. Saturday I caught my limit of flounder in two hours. I was fishing the kiddie pool with live finger mullet, had a blast.
