From my experience normally around spring break is when they start seeing the mackerel at the beach pier, and the earliest I have caught them in the past few years in any numbers has been the last part of april and early may in the pass, hope this helps

in the bay, it usually in the Fall starting in September. Before that they will be in the Gulf. They typically pile up in the bay right before it gets cold fattening up on bait fish. Hope that helps. O*D*W

Towards Destin (where I fish) the Spanish start to show up in the bay a little bit (maybe a week or two) after they show up in good numbers on the beach. We rarely get Kings in the bays/bayous, but sometimes if there is a strong wind blowing we may pick off a couple. But I think you are talking about Spanish in March, and I'd imagine the 3rd or last week of march should start the initial runs, and they will hang around until Nov if the water is warm enough.

Exactly. Watch for reports from the beach piers and boat fisherman, when they show up, they'll soon be in the bay and ICW and will stay through October until the first cold snap or two. Water temperature is key for migratory species.

Spanish are showing at Pensacola pier in small numbers... Kings have been caught out in Destin... I'd say the big flow of Spanish will hit around the third week of this month... but magic number like said above is that 65-72 degree water... good luck!

Both buoy's around Pensacola are showing water temps at about 60.. Gonna be a week or two before I'll even start looking hard!
