Default Trying to learn saltwater fishing

As a novice inshore fishermen I am trying to figure out a few things on bay fishing for reds and trout. I am killing the ladyfish and catfish..great fun but not what I am after...Question 1. What is cutbait and how is it used? Question 2. Is it better to fish on the out going tide or when the tide is coming in? Question 3. I have noticed alot of fishermen on this site are catching Reds/Specks, are the majority of the fish caught here in Pensacola or Choctawhatchee? I have been trying to figure out Choctawhatchee bay and getting very discourage. Any positive feedback will be greatly appreciated

Try the drop offs from the flats to deeper water from mid bay to around the point from hog town on the south side, and north side bayou mouths abs flats between mid bay and 331. This time of year earlier the better. Dock lights at night during steepest tide also productive.

You can catch reds, trout and flounder - P'Cola has more diversity, but more fishermen also.

Your going to pick up more catfish with the cut bait. Of course I have caught them on hard and soft plastics. Also look for areas with grass, fish the pot holes. Keep an eye out for pods/schools of bait.
