I've only been fishing out of Destin since the beginning of last summer so I'm still learning the area. Would somebody please tell me a general area to fish for Spanish in the bay? Or even more generally, what to look for so I can find these areas on my own.
Yeah, they should be here pretty soon. I once heard somebody say that they show up after the 3rd or 4th Spring fog, I think we've had two so far. I know some places in St. Andrews Bay that are well away from the pass. I'd like to fins some like that in the Choctawhatchee.
In front of the coast guard station and around the jetties also will produce let the bay warm abit first you will start seeing rain minnows soon from the midbay bridge they will be here when that happens
Spanish macks showed up in Panama City about three days ago. Typically they show up in the eastern part of the region and fill in to the west. Hopefully we should have them here in Destin within the week, if not sooner with the hard onshores we have had the past two days. On an incoming tide you can usually troll them between the jetties and the bridge or just nort and east of Destin Bridge and up the channel to where it enters the bay. Good Luck
Like said just North of Crab Island after they have been here a couple of weeks look for them off Ben's Lake/Bear Creek area in 9-15' deep and then off Grass Lake in 9'+.
