Default shrimp baiting or crab lining?

I have searched in the past and didn't see much information on this. I grew up trawling w/ a 16 ft net in AL but am wondering if anybody does any shrimp baiting or crab trotlines locally? I know SC has a big shrimp baiting community and crab lines are popular in new england. I know last I checked regs a few months ago, we can keep a 5 gal bucket head on per day per vessel(or per person on land if I read right) and 2 5 gal bucket of whole blue crab per person per day. If I remember correctly this would have to be close to around 15 lbs(at least) but I haven't done any shrimping in close to 10 years so that number might be off. I'm wondering why its not more popular around here. I love shrimp and crab so I'll be doing some this year but wasn't sure if anybody does it? for the difference in shrimp that can be kept unless I'm going w/ 3 people or so, its not worth it to make the hour long drive to trawl in AL if they can be caught here in the same amount of time.

Last year was the worst year that I can remember for shrimping in Baldwin county. I went 3 times last year averaging 3-4 lbs. Per trip, before I called it quits. To much rain and more jelly fish than I have ever had to deal with. I know several people that use bait nets in escambia bay around the interstate bridge in the fall and they do pretty good

AH, yeah I won't be going to AL. It'll be local. From what I've read, you use "bait"(look up shrimp baiting on google and tons of chum/bait recipes), drive down some PVC pipes where you throw it out(up to 5 per state regs), wait and throw....

crab trotlines are similar to catfish trotlines from what I've seen other than you can have up to a 1-2000 ft line w/ a bait every few feet, and it is bascically anchored to the bottom w/ a weight and chain. Can't wait to try both this year.,
