Default Nicks Speckled Trout Shootout

Is anybody fishing this tourney the last two weekends in May.

Thinking of entering and fishing out of the kayak. Never have fished any tourney in my life but I guess at the age of 49 gotta start sometime.

Probably gonna do some scouting/prefishing next weekend. Don't know a whole lot about Choctawhatchee Bay but know enough about trout fishing.

Just to let you know in case you didn't, you better be at 5lb + to be in the top 5, sometimes 10.

I figured it would take a 7 pound plus fish to be in serious contention.

It's a great tournament, I actually finished 2nd last year with a 6.51, 6.57 won it. I wish they didn't move it to just the weekends, I mostly fish during the week, but I'll still give it a go.

I hear you. The first weekend being a holiday weekend will be brutal with extra boat traffic.

Just gotta be one the water early.

I'll be working doubles or triples at work that whole weekend, may only fish the final Sunday.

Are you allowed to use the small ramp at Nicks or put in a kayak there.

Hate to hear you will be working that much.

Congrats on your second place fish. If it had ate one more fingerling mullet for breakfast you might have had the winner.

Thanks. It's the same every Memorial Day, just one of the perks of being in the restaurant business in a tourist town!

Caught one yesterday that was probably over 5, and saw a few bigger. I'll still fee good about entering as long as I can fish one day.

I wouldn't put my yak in the water anywhere near the bay during Memorial Day weekend lol
