Smile New Fisher

Hello! Recently moved to FWB, working at Eglin AFB. Did some fishing with friends in bay water in NJ within the past year, looking to get more involved in fishing down in FWB/Destin area. I just received a new rod as a gift. Anyone know of places to go to learn more about fishing? Know of any place that gives lessons or places with friendly fellow fishermen looking to teach as they go?

Welcome 007. I'm stationed on Hurlburt and fished this area for 4 yrs now. By no means am I a pro but if you ever want to get into some pier fishing (I think that's a great place to learn about the gulf) message me and I'd be glad to show you what I know. Welcome to the forum, some great guys and gals on here.

You have so many options... Fresh, brackish, salt, piers, bridges, bays, intra-coastal, open ocean, etc. Plenty of books, magazines, and maps available in local bookstores. Check base MWR/services for boat, canoe, kayak rentals and fish Chocktawhatchee Bay. I was stationed (Army CIV) in the DC area and lived in Springfield, VA and I found that there are more options in this area than in VA/DC. And yes, stay close to this forum for all the advice, reports, tactics, tackle, bait, etc., info. You're gonna love it here!!!

I'm in Niceville and I do it all aside from the Gulf, so hit me up if you're interested. I love passing on knowledge.
