Default New to area and need help (Johnson Beach/Grand Lagoon area)

I've attempted to fish theJohnson Beach and the Grand Lagoon areas w/little (no) luck. I've been using frozen squid andshrimp w/a2 lb sinker (to fish the bottoms of the lagoon)b/c the local bait shop owner said that would probably be best for the fish that are around this time of year (reds I think he said).I'm really not too picky about what I catch, I mainly want to know what's hanging around in the lagoon (grand) and what sort of bait/how to rig it would give me the best odds of catching something (preferably edible).

this time of year might be slim pickens for fish in that area...2 lb or 2 oz lead is too much...i live out that way and have fished those waters all my might want to try surf fishing right now or jetties, piers...shoot me a pm and i can shed more light...

and Welcome to the insanity...
