Default New to the area, getting geared up, suggestions?

Hey everyone!

I'm new to the area, just moved here for work and will be here for awhile with some down time here and there that I'd like to fill with fishing. I am from Texas and have fished the gulf down there so I'm slightly familiar with gear for that area, but not so much for here.

I came here with NOTHING, so I'm starting from scratch, building my rods, reels and tackle. What I was wondering is if someone could make some recommendations as to what types of rods/reels they recommend for the area.

I'm on a limited budget, so keeping costs down is a plus. I'm looking at possibly getting into kayak fishing for just about anything out there in the waters, but for now I'll mostly be surf and shore fishing.

I'm all ears! Thanks in advance!

Stop by one of the local tackle shops and let them know your needs and they will take care of you. Outcast, Hot Spots, Broxsons, Sams etc.

Welcome to the area and the forum.
