Default Need advice for Bay fishing in June

Hi All,
My husband, my brother, his son and I are staying in Pensacola Beach the third week of June. We're interested in fishing in the Bay (rather than the main Gulf), from shore, docks, public access spots as well and renting a boat for a few days.

I would love to get basic advice on:
types of rods/reels/line to bring
what fish can be caught in the Bay and what lures and bait are best
Boat rental companies

I realize this covers a lot of ground, but hope someone has some good tips. If there is a thread that addresses all these questions, please direct me.

Thanks in advance for any help!

From boat:
Trout, Reds, Flounder, Spanish, and Red Snapper

7'med action spinning outfits with no larger than 20# braid with comparable FC leader. Keep it simple and use Gulp with 1/4 jig head. If you want live bait, bull minnows or shrimp either carolina rig or under a popping cork.

Best advice is start browsing the inshore report forum and see what people are using.

Good luck.

I packed up my tent and moved from ATL a couple years back and am always glad to help a fellow Georgian out.

June calls for EARLY mornings, late evenings, and lots of sunscreen. Look for grass flats or structure on googlemaps. As dawg pointed out... Gulp are great. I also like Mirrolure suspending twitch baits and top water lures for low light situations (dawn/dusk). A popping cork with a shrimp is pretty deadly too esp on the flats wade-fishing

Hi Mike,

Thanks for more great tips! Guess we'll have to watch it with those Bushwackers if we're going to make the early mornings!
