Default Indian river lagoon

Wife just informed me that we are headed to Orlando for Memorial Day weekend. I want to go being my kayak and fish Indian river lagoon. Anybody have any experience fishing there?

Heading east from Orlando, I use to take SR 528 (a.k.a. Beeline / Beach line ) over to the coast and drop in on the Banana River just west of the Cruise Ship terminal and paddle north. There is a set of power lines crossing the river ( E to W) and no motorized vehicles are allowed North of that point. We would paddle about 4 miles North and fish those spoil islands (dredged mounds of sand) and did real well on Speckled trout.
We would launch a good half hour before daybreak and get up there early to avoid the wind. A few big alligators seen from time to time, but they didn't bother us while wading. The east side was also good for top water and reds near shore.
Good luck.
