Default Help-- rented a pontoon for tomorrow am

Any one have any hints they could offer about what kind of edible fish might be biting in the crab island vicinity tomorrow am. We came prepared to catch some edible fish off the okaloosa island pier and have had no luck. This is our last ditch effort to catch a fresh meal on vacation. Help! Any info is very much appreciated!!

I would try getting there early and drifting the grass flats behind the Coast Guard station and those behind Crab Island. If you have live shrimp you can pick up some trout or slot reds. If no shrimp, throw Mirrodines, a Zara spook or a gold spoon. Good luck. GT

The above would be No. 1 advice. No. 2 would be to fish the bridge. Stay up current and let your bait go to the pilings.

I thought about that JoeZ but depending on the current and being in a rental I'd be a little leery of getting too close to the bridge. I agree with you, that's a great spot but if you aren't familiar with the Destin area the current it could be tricky.

No doubt. Wouldn't want to fish and try to hold. Somebody fishes while the driver holds.

Coast Guard station is a go to spot for sure.

Thanks so much for info! Any specific leaders or line sizes to use in the bay?

Use as light a line and leader as you can get away with. Lighter line will get more bites. You could loose a few if fishing around structure but maybe more bites will off set that. Good luck!
