Default Fresh water in the bay

Since the big rain Ive noticed a lot of folks reporting they are having trouble catching fish in the bays. Have the bay fish gone out into the gulf? If so, one would think they would be easy to find. Anybody know?

Well, last week I was catching Largemouth Bass in Blackwater Bay where I normally catch Specs and Reds - from Bay point to Grassy Point. I caught those bass on my favorite Spec artificial - MR17.

They seem to have. I caught speckled trout at the Fort Pickens jetties twice last week. 2 trips - 6 each trip.

A lot of fish migrated from the upper bays after the flood. Will they soon return? I really don't know. I think as long as they have plenty to eat and a tolerable water temperature, they will stay where they are.

It's about the same over hear in the east end of the Choctawhatchee Bay. Mullet fishing (snatching) has been terrible for months. Mullet fishermen have just about quit trying and gone to bream fishing in the rivers.

Like Desert Eagle mentioned...there's freshwater fish wayyy out in the bay....saw some trout out by Garcon Pt. bridge w/ dive masks on and salt-water tanks strapped to their backs headed South just the other day....said something about not wanting to share the water w/ so many bluegills and bass...LOL

But...YES, the trout n reds will return, have done so since creation...as our water returns to it's normal salinity the bait and fish will return. Trout are not stationary, they move all the time...

This is natures way of a total flush..
For now...if you want quality and numbers...fish the saltiest water you can find.

Agree about that. I haven't done nearly as well as this time last year on the usual flats I fish. My father went fishing on some flats near Sherman Cove and did really well, must be salinity in the water.
