Default Fishing in SR Sound

I really prefer fishing in the sound because it's so much more convenient, but I haven't had much luck out there. Everybody says " fish the grass flats." We only caught one keeper speck last year, but tried every lure, jig, and bait that is so recommended here.

Anyway, it still beats yard work.

Are the specks and reds on the grass flats yet? If not, when?

We've had real good luck west of the Brooks Bridge before you get to the narrows.. lots of specks.

I fish around Navarre and the specks and reds should be showing up on the flats around here any day now if they already havnt shown up. I havnt fished it yet this year. In the spring you can catch them on the flats wading with a popping cork and live shrimp pretty much through the day. Look for broken up grass or "potholes" in the gas as these are ambush points for the preds.

During the summer only fish the flats at dawn or dusk. During the day I do really well fishing a live bull minnow on a carolina rig in the deep holes adjacent to the flats.
