Default fishing in perdido bay, missouri fresh water idiot

hello all. missouri native that has enjoyed gulf shores and orange beach for many years. this year i am fortunate enough to be fishing in perdido bay. the past couple of years i have fished under the pier as well on shore and have done decent enough when it comes to lady fish , cats and the occasional shark or two. not to keep but just for fun. well this year like i said im in the bay and have had no luck catching much of anything. looks like some speckled trout {unsure a little bit, im a novice @saltwater)have been jumping out but no hits. it would be nice to catch one or maybe some flounder , but unsure of where to start. thinking some live bull minnows but thats all ive really seen . used to using squid and shrimp on the shore but nothing has touched the squid and the shrimp i think is getting eaten by crabs. any help is appreciated, unfortunately i dont have the money to go on a charter. (got laid off four days before vacation started , railroad employee, so i dont think it would be a good idea to just blow money on a trip.)

Fish live bull minnow s or Peter mullet on a fishfinder rig.
Are you fishing north or south of Lillian bridge? On the Alabama or Florida side?

On the fl side north of 98 there is a spot near the first point where water drops from 2-3 to about 5' near a couple of docks. I've caught a few specs there but can't find the redfish. I've had most luck on the small voodoo shrimp.
