Default Fishfinder Help

With all the options side sonar, dsi, and just regular fishfinder depth recorders what would be a good choice. what brands seem to work better. With $500 budget or less. I usually fish 20' to 40 feet of water inshore have fished for years without one with decent success but considering purchasing one. Any advise would be appreciated.

i just bought a new my self and went through a bunch of research it seems to me that the side scan and dsi just show the structure in picture like images but that is alll they show. i went with the lowrance hds 7 gen 2 after months of research and looking up info and i love it. i ahd a garmin before that, i like it also just wanted one with a gps built in. garmnin is a good machine and they have many units to chose from lowrance is also great. just some info eagle is made by lowrance it is just there cheaper model. all in all just need to go look at them and look at there options and screen image and choose a unit that youi like that is in your price range good luck.

The hummingbird sidescan sonars show fish , schools of fish , and structure . My favorite thing is being able the are the schools of fish. Its also nice to see a picture like image of the structure your fishing .

Also keep in mind the humminbird units also do traditional sonar and quick fire sonar.

I got an outstanding deal on my humminbird 798si have been very happy with it .

Ive been researching them myself lately, and intend on mounting a lowrance elite 4 dsi on my outback, looks like a great one for the money 350+/-, IMHO.
