Do both! I used a deer feeder on a lake one time and put floating catfish food in it. Worked good. It would be better if it could be programmed for certain times. This was a dusk and dawn type.

The only down side is people fishing your dock all the time.

Lights will attract bait fish. Bait fish will attract the bigger fish. Keep it simple and give them what they want.
