Default Cast netting Speckled Trout

I am aware that it is legal.

We took our son to the park today and eventually made are way out to the dock. There was a younger gentleman with his cast net. I glanced down to see what he had in his fish holding net and saw a Trout.

I have heard guys mention netting Trout at work in the past.

I'm just curious to see how many people actually target Trout with a net?

It's not for me and I have nothing against you if it is your thing.

I understand that it is legal.

I'm curious to see how many people actually do it.

A few guys I work with mentioned catching Trout in residential channels last winter with a net.

It's legal for most inshore/near shore species. (Redfish, Black Drum, all Trout, Flounder, Pomp, etc.)

I do think it's more of a coincidence bycatch than anything else. I can't imagine sight targeting trout with a cast net. I guess the best way to target them would be to throw at bait balls that are getting busted on.
