Default Bottom Rig Ignorance.

Didn't find exactly what I was looking for with a forum search, so here I am. Gonna be house sitting in P'cola in Aug. for a couple of weeks, so was wondering how you guys rig your baits for bottom fishing in the Bay. I'm almost always in 2-4' of water with a popping cork, so I'm a complete beginner at this. Egg sinkers with a mono leader, that kind of thing? Any help appreciated.

You should move this to inshore fishing. You will get a lot more help posting in the proper location.

That said: Starting at the end of your line. Egg sinker, swivel, mono leader, hook.

That is a simple rig that will work in the bays. Good Luck

I seem to always get my bait stolen with the above described rig. May work for some but not for me.

I use dropper rig with pyramid on bottom

Don't have enough knowledge of that type of fishing to be specific. Something that will fit on a grill?

Google search:
Single & Double Drop Rig
Carolina Rig

Size & type will depend on what you're targeting.

General purpose:
Carolina or Drop rig, on 20#FC with #4-#6 mosquito or kahle hooks with peeled shrimp, will catch any of the smaller denizens of the surf, Pomps, Whiting, Ground Mullet and such.
Upsize for targeting specific/larger species.
E.g.
40# mono leader, 15-20# FC double drops, orange bead or float above #2, #1 or 1/0 circles with shrimp or big sand flea, great for Pomps.
40# mono double drop with 5/0-9/0 circles, baited with shrimp or cut bait, great for big Red & Black drum.
Carolina, 1-8oz flat egg, bead, swivel, 50# mono to 5/0-9/0 circle with cut bait, cast onto sand bar for big rays.

These are a few of my favorite bottom rigs.
