Default Best areas to wade around Pensacola?

I'm currently enrolled at UWF and am new to the area.
I just bought a brand new pair of waders and haven't
been able to use them yet. If someone could point me in the
right direction as to where I could get out and do a little fishing
I would really appreciate it. Not looking for anybody's hot spot
just a good area for wading.

Thanks, Ty.

Big Lagoon State Park, Johnsons Beach, Ft. Pickens, Nat. Seashore in Navarre.

I'd pick JB. I've heard the beds at the "Point" behind Portofino is supposed to be really good also.

Since you are at UWF, you might want to try going to Floridatown sometime. Last year there were some good catches off the pier and wading out from the pier to the pilings. Most of the Reds and Specs I saw caught were from guys standing out by the pillings and casting into deeper water. This was while I was throwing a cast net for mullet.

Havn't made it out yet this year, but the pier lights along Innerarity Point and Gulf Beach Hwy are good spots for specks, reds, and white trout. Just find a nice public spot to wade down. After dark, just remember to shuffle your feet so you don't stuck by a ray! Pretty shallow on the bay side of the Point.

I ended fishing about five miles east of
Portofino. I caught 2 upper slot redfish
along with 3 trout, 2 of which were over
20 inches.

As you come into Pace from Pensacola, go to the second stop light and turn right. Follow the road down to the bay to Floridatown Park. There is a shallow boat ramp, dock and plenty of area to wade fish. There are also pilings from docks wiped out by Ivan. Just came from there throwing the cast net. Caught three mullet but they were smallish so I let them go.
