Default Bay Kings

I want to catch some bay kings this year and normally I use leader wire when fishing for them but I don't want to limit myself for a red passing by or something else. I'm gonna try to use some live pinfish. I have always been told you will catch alot more fishing without using leader wire and it seems to be true. Could I possibly use some heavy mono or does anyone have any other suggestions? Thanks

Trolling lures that I like, I rig with wire. If the only thing I'm at risk of losing is a hook with a pinfish on it, then I rig with mono. I don't know if my hook ups increase, but I prefer mono.

If you want to target kings in the bay you need big live mehaden or some dead ribbon fish. I use single strand wire in the 30-40 lb range. The middle of 3 mile and the port of pcola are always good spots to start. Have your baits in the water at the first sign of daylight. There ate some nice smokers there this time of year.
